Lady Vikings Roll Against Cayuga, 76-37

Bradt And Keeler Help Hudson Valley Move To 2-0

Troy, N.Y., November 4, 2001 – Hudson Valley Community College's women's basketball team, ranked fifth in the nation among NJCAA Division III squads, started today's game against Cayuga Community College with a 10-0 run. Led by Lindsey Bradt (Bishop Maginn H.S.) and Carolyn Keeler (Cohoes H.S.), the Lady Vikings never trailed, rolling to a 76-37 Mountain Valley Conference victory and remaining undefeated.

Hudson Valley is now 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Mountain Valley Conference action. Cayuga is 1-1 overall and in league play.

While Bradt did most of her damage in the first half – the second-year guard/forward scored 16 of her game-high 20 points in the opening 20 minutes, helping the Lady Vikings open up a 40-21 first-half advantage – Keeler tallied nine points in the first half and 10 points in the second half to total 19 points on the day. A 5-foot-8 forward, Keeler also pulled down six rebounds. Bradt, the 2000-01 NJCAA Division III Region III Player of the Year, contributed three assists and three rebounds.

Center Meghan Squires (Hoosic Valley H.S.) had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Hudson Valley. Point guard Megan Davis (Greenwich H.S.) had seven rebounds and five assists. Jill Valachovic (Schalmont H.S.) and Tonya DeLaMater (Tamarac H.S.) each had eight points.

The Lady Vikings held Cayuga to just 12 field goals.

Hudson Valley plays again on Wednesday, November 7, at Clinton Community College. Hudson Valley's next home game is at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, against SUNY Canton.
