Schenectady Downs Hudson Valley in Women’s Basketball

The Schenectady County Community College (7-5) women’s basketball team used a late 15-0 run to pull away for a 58-42 win over Hudson Valley Community College (4-9) tonight in Troy.
Schenectady led 40-36 with 8:50 remaining in the game before scoring the next 15 points over five minutes that put the game away for the Royals.
Freshman center Samantha Manning (Columbia High School) netted a game-high 16 points for Schenectady.
Hudson Valley, which connected on just 13-of-58 shots (22.4 percent) from the floor in the game, got 14 points from sophomore guard Jenna Smith (Cohoes/Cohoes High School) and 13 points apiece from sophomore guard Erika Russo (Salem/Salem High School) and freshman forward Rachel Dooley (Grafton/Berlin High School). Russo also had 10 rebounds.
