Hudson Valley Women’s Basketball Loses to No. 2 Mohawk Valley

Mohawk Valley Community College (15-0), ranked second in the latest NJCAA Division III women’s basketball poll, went on a 27-4 run to end the first half and cruised to a 67-40 win over Hudson Valley Community College (11-10) today in Troy.

Hudson Valley held a 12-9 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the first half before the Hawks turned up the defensive pressure and took a 36-16 lead into the break.

Ten different players found the scoring column for Mohawk Valley, who was led by Christina Mann (Utica/Proctor High School) with 11 points. Tekesha Hanson (Flushing/John Browne High School) added 10 points.

Freshman Jenna Hughes (Poestenkill/Averill Park High School) paced Hudson Valley with 14 points. Sophomore Molly McGuire (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School) had eight points and nine rebounds.
