Hudson Valley Women’s Basketball Rallies to Beat Delhi

Freshman guard Jackie Carraway (Troy/Lansingburgh High School) just missed a triple-double in leading the Hudson Valley Community College (8-5/7-4 Region III) women’s basketball team to a 58-45 win over SUNY Delhi (1-9) tonight in Troy.

Carraway finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. She also had five steals and blocked four shots. Freshman Jenna Hughes (Poestenkill/Averill Park High School) had a double-double of her own with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Molly McGuire (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School) and freshman Erika Russo (Salem/Salem High School) contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Hudson Valley failed to score on its first 20 shot attempts from the floor and trailed 10-0 at the nine minute mark of the first half before making its first bucket. The Lady Vikings did rebound to take a 22-20 lead into the break.

Kelly Taggart (Franklin/Franklin High School) paced Delhi with 14 points.

Hudson Valley (58): Molly McGuire 4-4-13, Ryan Graham 1-2-4, Erika Russo 6-0-12, Jackie Carraway 4-2-12, Jenna Hughes 6-1-15, Liz Ashline 1-0-2, Totals: 23-9-58.

Three-point goals: Delhi 4 (Ruff 2, Archer, Taggart); Hudson Valley 6 (McGuire, Carraway 2, Hughes 2).

Halftime: Hudson Valley led 22-20.
