Sheehan Honored For Hoop Efforts

Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball player Kara Sheehan (Catholic Central) earned post-season honors. The first-year forward was selected as a Second Team All-Mountain Valley Conference player and a Third Team All-Region player.

Sheehan topped Hudson Valley with 17.4 points per game in 1999-2000. She also averaged 8.0 rebounds per contest, and shot 72.5 percent from the free throw line. The Vikings' offensive leader hit 9-of-19 three pointers (47.4 %) and recorded 52 steals, second best on the squad.

Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions; Business, Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, Hudson Valley Community College has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining.
