Lady Vikings Fall to Cobleskill

Freshman forward Dierdre Smith (Monticello/Redemption Christian Academy) poured in 19 points to lead the SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team (7-0) to a 52-49 win over Hudson Valley Community College (4-7) earlier tonight in Troy.

SUNY Cobleskill went on 20-6 run over the final 9:02 to secure the victory.

Sophomore guard Jocelyn Moy (Greenwich/Greenwich High School) finished with 23 points and nine rebounds to lead Hudson Valley. Freshman forward Ronita McColley (Troy/Paul Robeson High School) netted a career high 10 points.

A jumper by sophomore forward Elizabeth Ferenczy (Coxsackie/Coxsackie-Athens High School) gave Hudson Valley a 49-48 lead with 1:13 remaining. The Tigers responded with a layup by sophomore Charisma Richmond (Bronx/Redemption Christian Academy) to go up 50-49 with 40 seconds left. After the Lady Vikings failed to convert on their next possession, freshman Crystal Ferrer (Bronx/Redemption Christian Academy) hit a pair of free throws to put Cobleskill up by three points.

Hudson Valley's final three-point attempt was blocked by Ferrer.
