Hudson Valley Winter Sports to Begin Practice Friday

The Hudson Valley Community College ice hockey and men's and women's basketball teams will begin practice for the 2004-05 season on Friday, October 1.

Under first-year head coach Andre Cook, Hudson Valley's men's basketball team is looking for its 15th consecutive winning season. The Vikings finished 15-13 a year ago. Hudson Valley will open its season at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 1, at defending Region III champion Cayuga Community College.

Entering her sixth season as the head coach of the Hudson Valley women's basketball team, Colleen Ferris has led the Lady Vikings to four consecutive Region III final four appearances. Her overall coaching record stands at 86-48, including a 19-11 mark a year ago. Hudson Valley opens its season at 5 p.m. on Monday, November 1, at Cayuga Community College.

Matt Alvey is in his third year at the helm of the Hudson Valley ice hockey team. The Vikings finished 8-9-1 a year ago and will open their season at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, when they travel to Randolph, N.J. to meet County College of Morris.
