Lady Vikings Draw No. 4 Seed in Region III Tournament

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team is seeded fourth in the 2004 NJCAA Region III Division III tournament. The Lady Vikings have received a first round bye and will meet the winner of the first round game between No. 5 Schenectady County Community College and 12th seeded Herkimer Community College on Friday, February 27 in Watertown. The game time will be announced on Monday, February 23.

Hudson Valley enters the tournament with an 18-10 record. After winning only seven of their first 14 games, the Lady Vikings were 11-3 in the second half of the season.

Freshman guard Jocelyn Moy (Greenwich/Greenwich High School) is leading the team with 17.5 points, 4.5 assists and 4.8 steals per game. Sophomore forward Latrice Cowart (Severn, MD/Meade High School) is contributing 13.4 points and 12 rebounds per game.

Hudson Valley has advanced to the Region III semifinals in each of the last three seasons, and was the Region III champion in 2002. The winner of this year's tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division III Championship tournament in Corning.
