Lady Vikings Defeat Tompkins Cortland
Latrice Cowart Sets College's Rebounding Mark

Freshman guard Jocelyn Moy (Greenwich/Greenwich High School) finished with 23 points and six steals to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (15-8/13-6 Region III) women's basketball team to a 73-54 win over Tompkins Cortland Community College ( 7-14/4-14 Region III) earlier today in Troy.

Sophomore forward Latrice Cowart (Severn, MD/Meade High School) had 12 points and 17 rebounds. In the process, she became Hudson Valley's all-time leading rebounder with 579 career boards. She surpassed Julie Broadhead, who had 578 rebounds for the Lady Vikings from 1990 to 1992.

Hudson Valley held a 55-34 lead with 13:44 remaining before the Panthers went on a 20-4 to cut their deficit to five points, 59-54, with 5:48 left in the game. However, Hudson Valley scored the final 14 points of the contest to bring home the 19-point victory.

Also finishing in double-figures scoring for Hudson Valley was sophomore forward Megan Baldwin (Glenmont/Bethlehem High School), who netted 14 points.

Leading the way for the Panthers was sophomore Jaime Fisher (Interlaken/South Seneca High School) with 17 points.

Hudson Valley has won six straight games and will host Adirondack Community College at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10.
