Lady Vikings Upend Morrisville 56-34

Sophomore forward Angela Von Wergers (Albany/Bishop Gibbons High School) finished with 21 points, 15 rebounds and six steals to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (17-6) women's basketball team to a 56-34 win over SUNY Morrisville earlier tonight in Troy. Hudson Valley has won three straight games and seven of its last eight contests.

Freshman center Latrice Cowart (Severn, MD/Meade High School) had 16 points and eight boards for the Lady Vikings while sophomore guard Casey Brinkman (Troy/Troy High School) added 11 points. Sophomore guard Tanya DeLaMater (Troy/Tamarac High School) collected five points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Hudson Valley put the game away early, racing out to a 17-2 lead over the first eight minutes behind 10 quick points from Von Wergers.

Freshman forward Erin Drescher (Penfield/Penfield High School) paced Morrisville (4-21) with 14 points.

Hudson Valley will visit Adirondack Community College on Tuesday, February 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
