Lady Vikings Fall to Fulton-Montgomery 62-54

Freshman guard Ashlei Kenchen (Hobart) finished with 20 points to lead the Fulton-Montgomery Community College (8-1) women's basketball team to a 62-54 win over Hudson Valley Community College earlier tonight in Troy. The game was a rematch of last year's NJCAA Division III Region III championship game in which Hudson Valley defeated Fulton-Montgomery 54-46 to advance to the NJCAA national championship tournament.

Sophomore forward Angela Von Wergers (Albany/Bishop Gibbons High School) had 20 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Lady Vikings (7-4). Freshman forward Latrice Cowart (Severn, MD/Meade High School) added 14 points while sophomore guard Tanya DeLaMater (Troy/Tamarac High School) had 12 points and seven assists.

Sophomore forward Lindsay Collar (Gloversville) also finished in double-figures scoring for Fulton-Montgomery with 18 points.

The Raiders increased their five point halftime lead to 37-27 with 15 minutes remaining. Hudson Valley slowly clawed its way back into the game and trailed by only one, 51-50, with 3:33 left in the contest. However, Kenchen scored six straight points to help seal the win for Fulton-Montgomery.
