All-American Lindsey Bradt (Bishop Maginn H.S.) has been named NJCAA Division III Region III Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Players from more than 30 two-year schools across the Northeast were eligible for Player of the Year honors.

Bradt, a 5-foot-8 guard/forward who is currently being recruited by a host of four-year colleges, has led Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team to a 23-4 regular-season record and the No. 2 seed in this weekend's Region III tournament.

Additionally, second-year center Meghan Squires (Hoosic Valley H.S.) earned Second Team All-Region III status.

Bradt, who holds Hudson Valley's record for points scored in a career, is averaging 21.3 points per game this season, which places her third in the nation among Division III junior college players. Bradt also is contributing 8.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. She leads Hudson Valley with 87 steals, and she is shooting a team-high 61.1 percent from the field.

Squires, meanwhile, is averaging 12.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She has recorded a team-high 56 blocks to accompany her 45 steals.

Hudson Valley, which has posted a 47-7 record during Squires and Bradt's run, is currently ranked fifth in the country among NJCAA Division III teams. In the Region III tourney, the Lady Vikings will play No. 7 seed Clinton Community College (12-10) at 8 p.m. on Friday. If the Lady Vikings win, they will advance to a semifinal game against the winner of a game between No. 3 Mohawk Valley Community College (24-5) and No. 6 Corning Community College (17-10). The semifinal contest is slated for 3 p.m. Saturday, and the championship game will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday. All tourney games are being played at Mohawk Valley.
