Lady Vikings Down Morrisville, 66-47

Troy, N.Y., February 21, 2002 – Hudson Valley Community College's women's basketball team began this evening's contest at the McDonough Complex with a 9-0 run and never trailed in a 66-47 victory over SUNY Morrisville.

All-American Lindsey Bradt (Bishop Maginn H.S.) scored six of her game-high 17 points in the game's first four minutes, helping the Lady Vikings open up a 15-2 advantage. Bradt, who made 8-of-11 field goal attempts, also had six rebounds and four assists on the game.

Hudson Valley, ranked No. 5 in the nation among NJCAA Division III teams, is now 22-4 overall. Morrisville is 14-13.

Center Meghan Squires (Hoosic Valley H.S.) contributed 12 points and 13 rebounds to the Hudson Valley cause. Angela von Wergers (Bishop Gibbons H.S.) had nine points and eight rebounds.

In the 2000-01 academic year, Hudson Valley's athletic teams combined to win 72 percent of their contests. The ice hockey team won the NJCAA championship, the baseball team earned a berth in the NJCAA World Series and the football team won the Region III title. The women's basketball team earned a No. 1 national ranking and turned in a 24-3 record while the men's hoop squad competed in the Region III championship game. Additionally, two Vikings earned Region III Player-of-the-Year status, 20 were named All-Region III performers, and 10 were honored with All-American status.
