Bradt Grabs Region III Honors For Second Consecutive Week

Hudson Valley Community College All-American guard/forward Lindsey Bradt (Bishop Maginn), the second-leading scorer in the country, was named NJCAA Division III Region III Female Athlete of the Week on the most recent Region III athletic report, which was released on Jan. 15. Bradt also captured Athlete of the Week honors on Dec. 18, 2001.

The weekly Region III report, which encompasses more than 30 colleges from across the Northeast, was not released during an extended Christmas break, and Bradt is the first back-to-back winner of Female Athlete of the Week honors in 2001-02.

The second-year player, last season's Region III Player of the Year, was selected for her efforts in a 71-38 victory against Mountain Valley Conference rival Herkimer County Community College on Jan. 11. She had 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

The Lady Vikings are 11-3 overall and are ranked seventh in the nation among Division III junior colleges. Defensively, Hudson Valley is the No. 2 team in the country, allowing just 44.6 points per game.

Bradt is averaging 21.0 points per game, second-best in the in the nation among Division III players and tops in Region III. She also is No. 1 in Region III in field goal percentage (59.9). Additionally, Bradt is contributing 8.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per contest.

Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions; Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, Hudson Valley has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining.
