The Hudson Valley Community College Athletic Department announces the appointment of Christine Walsh as the new Women's Volleyball head coach.

Walsh takes over after serving as assistant coach at Hudson Valley last fall under former coach Shelby Sayre. The Vikings finished the 2010 season with an 11-10 overall record, an eight-game improvement over the previous year.

Director of Athletics Kristan Pelletier states, "Christine is a talented coach who has seen early success in our volleyball program. She is a person of high character who is dedicated to the program and will work hard to take our team to the next level."

A Westchester native, Walsh moved to Dallas at a young age where she played volleyball throughout high school. She played during her freshman year of college at Union before transferring to Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Walsh just finished her first season with the Iroquois-Empire Volleyball Association league under USA Volleyball where she is also certified as an R1 and scorekeeper.

She obtained a BA in psychology from Southern Methodist and currently works as a project coordinator at an engineering and environmental consulting company in Clifton Park.
