The Hudson Valley Community College athletic department has announced that men's cross country runner Eric Young (Shaker/ Latham) and women's volleyball players Julia Christian (Catholic Central/Cohoes) and Baleigh Morrow (Ravena/ Selkirk) have been named male and co-female Athletes of the Month for their athletic performance in September.

As a freshman, Young has led the men's cross country team in every event in which it has competed. He came in first place overall in his first collegiate race and helped the men's team to a first place finish in the SUNYIT Invitational. Young also has had two other top-five finishes this month and has the Vikings running well going into their final races of the season before the regionals and nationals at the end of October.
Julia Christian Julia Christian Baleigh Morrow Baleigh Morrow

Christian and Morrow are both a part of a new recruiting class that has helped to revitalize the Lady Vikings women's volleyball program that had only three wins a year ago. The team now is now 8-7 through the majority of its season. Christian has had a tremendous start to her college career with 66 kills, 78 digs, and four blocks in 31 games played. Morrow's near-identical numbers are 74 kills and 88 digs in 37 games played.

Team of the Month – September

Women's Volleyball
The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team went 3-15 in the 2009 season, but have made huge strides with a current record of 8-7 in 2010. Most recently, the ladies went 5-3 in the Holyoke Invitational, coming in third place out of a total of nine teams.
