Schenectady Pair Helping Hudson Valley's Volleyball Team to Its Best Season Since 1996

The Hudson Valley Community College volleyball team is having its best season since 1996. The Lady Vikings sport an 8-7 record and stand in second place in the Mountain Valley Conference with a 4-1 conference mark.

Freshman Colleen Horan (Schenectady/Mohonasen High School) leads the team with 2.4 kills per game and 60 blocks. She also is averaging 2.55 digs per contest.

Freshman Amanda Jeffes (Schenectady/Schenectady High School) has been the Lady Vikings starting setter in all 15 matches. She is averaging 7.67 assists and 1.57 digs per game.

Hudson Valley has two matches remaining on its schedule before the National Junior College Athletic Association Region III Tournament, which takes place on October 30-31 in Corning. The Lady Vikings host Mohawk Valley Community College at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 18, and travel to Morrisville State College on Friday, October 22.

Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, is a member of the Mountain Valley Conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association. Hudson Valley student-athletes compete on 14 varsity teams – baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's bowling, women's cross country, football, men's ice hockey, men's lacrosse, men's and women soccer, softball, women's tennis and women's volleyball.
