Volleyball Defeats Herkimer

Sophomore Katie Chandler (Warwick/Warwick Valley High School) had seven kills, 14 digs and 10 service aces to lead the Hudson Valley Community College volleyball team to a 3-1 (30-22, 30-28, 20-30, 30-27) victory at Herkimer County Community College (3-12) on Monday night.

Hudson Valley has won four of its last five matches to run its record to 7-6 on the season. The lady Vikings will host Adirondack Community College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5.

Hudson Valley freshman setter Amanda Jeffes (Schenectady/Schenectady High School) led a balanced offensive attack with 38 assists.

Five Lady Vikings contributed at least seven kills, led by freshman Colleen Horan (Schenectady/Mohonasen High School), who had 10 kills, 10 block and seven service aces. Freshman Jackie Zugzda (Perth/Broadalbin-Perth High School) had nine kills and 20 digs, and sophomores Jessalyn Hotaling (Coeymans Hollow/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School) and Rachel Bishop (Red Hook/Red Hook High School) had seven kills apiece.
