The Hudson Valley Community College women’s tennis team finished 7th out of 13 teams at the National Tournament in Flushing, NY.
Emily Qua (Ichabod Crane/Stuyvesant) fought back to win her opening match in first flight singles after losing the first set. Qua lost a hard fought match in the quarterfinals to the number one overall seed, and national player of the year from Ocean. Haley Knight (Chatham/Canaan) won her opening match but fell in the second round of the third flight singles. Both Qua and Knight teamed together in first flight doubles and won their first two matches to make it to the semifinals, but lost to Broome in two sets.
Overall, it was a very impressive showing for the Vikings on the national stage. The Vikings had an excellent year which featured an undefeated regular season, conference championship, a second place finish at regionals, and a national tournament appearance.
