Hudson Valley Tennis Drops a 5-4 Decision to Defending National Champion Mohawk Valley

The Hudson Valley Community College (1-1) women's tennis team suffered a 5-4 setback to Mohawk Valley Community College earlier today in Troy. Mohawk Valley is the defending National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) champion.

The teams played to a 3-3 draw in singles action, but Mohawk Valley picked up two out of three doubles matches to earn the win.

Freshmen Ashley Metzger (Troy/Columbia High School), Desiray Cisar (Esperance/Scoharie High School) and Isma Butt (Malta/Ballston Spa High School) picked up wins for Hudson Valley in singles play. Sophomores Angela Rhodes (Troy/Troy High School) and Lindsay Frament (Waterford/Catholic Central High School) teamed up to win for the Lady Vikings at No. 2 doubles.

Hudson Valley will return to action on Monday, September 15 when the Lady Vikings travel to Cobleskill for a 4 p.m. match.
