Softball Drops a Pair to Corning

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (10-6) lost to Corning Community College (16-6) 4-3 and 18-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings held a 3-2 leading heading into the bottom of the seventh in game one, but gave up two runs to take a 4-3 loss. Brittany Ubrich (Mechanicville/Mechanicville) hit a homerun, and Ashley Robinson (Whitesboro/Whitesboro) pitched five strong innings in the loss.

Hudson Valley couldn’t recover from the comeback loss as they dropped the second game 18-1. Hannah Mochrie (Colonie/Colonie) led the team with a homerun, and Courtney McDonnell (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) went 2-3 at the plate.

The softball team travels to Adirondack on Tuesday for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
