Softball Splits with Monroe

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (3-3) split with Monroe Community College (8-7) on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings won game one 9-8 and lost game two 8-1.

Hannah Mochrie (Colonie/Colonie) led the Vikings in the first game going 3-5 at the plate with a homerun. Hannah Hoffman (Averill Park/Wynantskill) went 3-4, and Danielle McOmber (Cohoes/Cohoes) added a homerun in the win. Ashley Robinson (Whitesboro/Whitesboro) received the win on the mound, and was able to get out of a jam in the bottom of seventh to hang on for the win.

Hudson Valley would only record six hits in the second game, scoring only one run that came in the first inning. Monroe was able to shut down the high-powered offense to earn the 7-run victory and split on the day.

The softball team travels to Mohawk Valley on Thursday for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
