Emily Johnson Highlights Vikings’ Signings

Current Hudson Valley Community College softball sophomore, Emily Johnson (Tamarac/Wynantskill), signed her letter of intent with Division 2, NAIA, College of St. Joseph. Johnson is receiving a "Provider Scholarship" in which she is required to be a member of the softball team, provide 15 hours of community service each semester and maintain a 2.0 GPA. She ranked in the top 25 in the nation last season in batting with a .500 average, tallying a team-high 28 hits and 21 RBIs.

The Viking softball program also signed the following nine local athletes to letters of intent:

Head Coach Chris Mazzeo is encouraged by this incoming class stating, “the coaching staff has been actively recruiting and we are confident we are bringing in a good mix of quality student-athletes both in the classroom and on the field. We are changing the culture of the program and expect to compete for a regional championship every year. Recruiting is the first step in that direction, and we believe this is an excellent class that will be an asset to the college and softball program.”
