Softball Drops Two to North Country

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (1-5) lost to North Country Community College (2-0) 5-3 and 17-13 on Tuesday afternoon.

Maggie Miller (Maple Hill/Schodack) pitched the first game, recording nine strikeouts in the two-run loss. Emily Johnson (Tamarac/Wynantskill) went 2-2 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI, and Katie Traver (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) added two hits and an RBI.

The Vikings managed to put 13 runs on the board in the second game, but fell just short. Johnson led the team with four hits, a double, two runs scored and five RBIs. Miller, Katie Traver (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park), Alyssa Hand (Columbia/East Greenbush) and Sierra Bailey (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) each recorded two hits in the loss.

The softball team travels to Herkimer on Thursday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
