The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (5-1) defeated Wells College 9-1, followed by a big victory over Grace College 11-2 on Tuesday, March 22. This is the third day of the Vikings' week-long competition in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Aimee Lefebvre (Waterford- Halfmoon/Waterford) led the Vikings, going 2-3 from the plate and recording her first collegiate home run with a two-run shot. Cherish Kilventon (Cohoes/Cohoes) picked up her second win of the season, allowing only one earned run on just four hits.

In the second game against Grace, Natalie Triano (Colonie/Albany) went 2-2 at the plate with a home run and two RBIs. Molly McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) and Lori Pelersi (Bethlehem/Albany) each had two singles and one RBI apiece. A two-run double from Meghan Matan (Shaker/Latham) broke the game open in the fourth inning. Kate Cahrenger (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) allowed only one earned run to improve her record to 3-0 on the season. Great defense by the team helped Cahrenger get out of trouble several times throughout the game.

The Vikings end their spring trip tomorrow with games against Potomac State and Wells College at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
