Chesebrough Strikes Out 20 in Win Over Adirondack

Sophomore pitcher Tracy Chesebrough (Duanesburg/Duanesburg High School) struck out a school-record 20 batters to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (19-10/18-0 Region III) softball team to a 4-0 win over Adirondack Community College (9-7/9-7 Region III) in the opening game of a doubleheader played today in Troy. Hudson Valley also took the nightcap, 10-2.

Chesebrough allowed just one hit and walked none to pick up the win in the opener. In the process, she picked up her 500th career strikeout.

Freshman Kailynn Bateman (Schuylerville/Schuylerville High School) was two-for-three and scored two runs to lead Hudson Valley’s offensive attack. Sophomore catcher Talia Valenti (Troy/Troy High School) was one-for-three with an RBI.

Hudson Valley scored nine runs, all coming with two outs, in the fourth inning of the second game to pull away from Adirondack. Chesebrough was two-for-two with a double and three RBI. Freshman Shana Flood (Glenmont/Bethlehem High School) was two-for-three with a double and two RBI.
