Hudson Valley Softball Sweeps Columbia-Greene

Sophomore pitcher Tracy Chesebrough (Duanesburg/Duanesburg High School) struck out 19 batters in eight innings of work to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (5-10/4-0 Region III) softball team to a doubleheader sweep over Columbia-Greene Community College today in Hudson. The Lady Vikings won the opener, 12-0, and the nightcap, 10-0.

Chesebrough allowed just one hit in five innings to pick up the win in the opener. She fanned 12 and walked none. She pitched three hitless innings in the second game, striking out seven and walking one. Freshman Shana Flood (Glenmont/Bethlehem High School) came in to pitch two hitless innings to seal the no-hitter for the Lady Vikings, their second in the last four games.

Sophomore Sarah Spellman (Delmar/Bethlehem High School) was three-for-four with three RBI for Hudson Valley in the opener. Sophomore Kayle Countermine (Rotterdam/Schalmont High School) was three-for-four with a double and two RBI.

Spellman, Chesebrough and Countermine each drove in two runs for Hudson Valley in the nightcap. Freshman Kailynn Bateman (Schuylerville/Schuylerville High School) was two-for-four with two doubles and an RBI
