Hudson Valley’s Tracy Chesebrough Named Conference Player of the Year

The softball coaches in the Mountain Valley Conference have recognized a pair of Hudson Valley freshmen for their play during the 2006 season. Tracy Chesebrough (Duanesburg/Duanesburg High School) was named the conference’s Player of the Year and Sarah Spellman (Bethlehem/Bethlehem High School) was recognized on the All-Conference team.

Chesebrough was 22-6 with a 1.20 earned run average this season. She struck out a school-record 298 batters in 186 innings of work and currently leads all NJCAA Division III pitchers in strikeouts. Chesebrough also batted .333 (32-for-96) with 25 RBI.

Spellman set school single season records with 11 home runs and 50 RBI. She had a team-high .434 (53-for-122) batting average.

Hudson Valley finished the year with a 30-10 record and won its fifth consecutive Mountain Valley Conference title.
