Hudson Valley Softball Sweeps Columbia-Greene

The Hudson Valley Community College (28-9/19-5 Region III) swept a doubleheader from Columbia-Greene Community College today in Troy. Hudson Valley won the opener, 8-1, and the nightcap, 13-0.

Sophomore pitcher Laura Rogers (Greenwich/Schuylerville High School) allowed just one unearned run and two hits to lead Hudson Valley in the opener. She struck out nine and walked two. Rogers also had two hits and an RBI at the plate.

Sophomore Melissa VanHeusen (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville High School) was two-for-three with three RBI.

Hudson Valley pounded out 13 hits in the second game, which included three-for-three performances by freshmen Ashley Hoffman (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) and Sarah Spellman (Bethlehem/Bethlehem High School).

Freshman pitcher Tracy Chesebrough (Duanesburg/Duanesburg High School) allowed just one hit in five innings to pick up the win and improve her record to 20-5 on the season. She struck out nine and walked one.
