Hudson Valley Softball Sweeps Fulton-Montgomery

The Hudson Valley Community College (24-9/15-5 Region III) softball team swept a doubleheader from Fulton-Montgomery Community College (13-11/13-11 Region III) earlier today in Troy. Hudson Valley won the opener, 4-1, and the nightcap, 10-1.

Freshman centerfielder Sarah Spellman (Bethlehem/Bethlehem High School) hit two home runs and had four RBI to lead Hudson Valley in the second game. Freshman catcher Talia Valenti (Troy/Troy High School) was two-for-three with a double and two RBI and freshman Jessica Surette (Berwick, ME/Noble High School) was two-for-two with a double and an RBI.

Sophomore Laura Rogers (Greenwich/Schuylerville High School) allowed just one run on three hits to pick up the win on the mound. She struck out two and walked one.

Valenti’s RBI single sparked a three run fourth inning for the Lady Vikings in the opener. She finished the game one-for-two.

Freshman pitcher Tracy Chesebrough (Duanesburg/Duanesburg High School) allowed one run on seven hits to pick up the win in the opener. She fanned 11.
