Chesebrough Throws Perfect Game in Hudson Valley’ s Sweep Over Clinton

Freshman pitcher Tracy Chesebrough (Duanesburg/Duanesburg High School) only allowed one hit in 10 innings of work to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (22-9/13-5 Region III) softball team to a doubleheader sweep over Clinton Community College (4-10/4-10 Region III). Hudson Valley won the opener, 10-0, and the second game, 13-0.

Chesebrough tossed a perfect game in the opener, striking out 14 batters in five innings. She fanned 10 and walked one in the nightcap, allowing just one hit.

Hudson Valley scored seven runs in the first inning of the opener. Chesebrough had a two-run triple in the inning.

Ashley Byerwalters (Coeymans Hollow/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School), Jessica Surette (Berwick, ME/Noble High School), Sarah Spellman (Bethlehem/Bethlehem High School), Talia Valenti (Troy/Troy High School) and Michelle Frechette (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls High School) all had two hits for the Lady Vikings in the opener.

Spellman was two-for-three with a double, home run and four RBI in the second game. Her eighth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the second inning, set the school record for home runs in a season. Byerwalters was two-for-three with a triple in the game.
