Softball Sweeps Morrisville

The Hudson Valley Community College (18-5/9-1 Region III) softball team swept a doubleheader at Morrisville State College (10-8/10-8 Region III) on Thursday. Hudson Valley won the opener, 6-4, and the nightcap, 6-5.

Sophomore Ashley Byerwalters (Coeymans Hollow/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School) and freshman Talia Valenti (Troy/Troy High School) each drove in two runs for the Lady Vikings in the opener. Freshman Tracy Chesebrough (Duanesburg/Duanesburg High School) picked up the win on the mound, allowing four runs on eight hits. She struck out 13 and walked two.

Valenti had three RBI for Hudson Valley in the second game. Freshman Ashley Hoffman (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) was three-for-four at the plate. Sophomore Laura Rogers (Greenwich/Schuylerville High School) pitched five innings to get the win on the mound. She allowed three runs on seven hits.
