Hudson Valley Softball Splits with UMass-Dartmouth

The Hudson Valley Community College (3-2) softball team split a doubleheader with the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL. Hudson Valley dropped the opener, 6-3, but rebounded to take the nightcap, 9-3.

A three-run triple by Shannon Alberry sparked a five-run sixth inning fro UMass Dartmouth in the opener.

Sophomore Ashley Byerwalters (Coeymans Hollow/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School) had two hits, including a triple, and two RBI for the Lady Vikings in the opener. Sophomore Kim Wintergerst (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School) also had two hits.

Freshman Jessica Surette (Berwick, ME/Noble High School) had two doubles and three RBI for Hudson Valley in the nightcap. Freshman Sarah Spellman (Bethlehem/Bethlehem High School) had a single, a double, and an RBI.

Freshman Tracy Chesebrough (Duanesburg/Duanesburg High School) pitched both games for Hudson Valley, striking out six in the opener and eight in the nightcap.
