Hudson Valley Softball Ranked Third in Preseason National Poll

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team is ranked No. 3 in the preseason NJCAA Division III poll.

Hudson Valley, which has posted 18 consecutive winning seasons, finished 21-9 last year and took third place in the NJCAA Region III tournament.

The Lady Vikings return their top two pitchers from a year ago, including sophomore Kim Wintergerst (Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston lake High School), who led all NJCAA Division III pitchers with a 0.46 earned run average and was named the Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year. Sophomore Laura Rogers (Greenwich/Schuylerville High School), who was 7-1 on the mound and had a .346 batting average, also returns.

Hudson Valley, under fifth-year head coach Jeff Beyer, will begin its season on March 19 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
