Freshman Reality Price (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) hit an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Hudson Valley Community College softball team a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Corning Community College in the nightcap of a doubleheader played earlier today in Troy. Hudson Valley won the opener, 1-0.

The Lady Vikings have won eight straight games and are 11-5-1 on the season. Corning's record drops to 3-3.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning of the nightcap, the Lady Vikings got consecutive singles from Price, sophomore Stephanie Goodspeed (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh High School), freshman Annemarie Nelson (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) and sophomore Becky Frederick (East Nassau/New Lebanon High School) to tie the game at 2-2.

Price finished the opener with three hits. Goodspeed had two hits, including a triple.

Sophomore Samantha Zotto (Troy/Troy High School) went the distance on the mound to pick up her sixth win of the season. She allowed two runs on six hits and fanned five batters. Dating back to last season, Zotto has won 15 consecutive games and is 15-1 in her two-year career at Hudson Valley.

In the opener, Goodspeed scattered three hits over seven innings to pick up the win for the Lady Vikings. She struck out 12 and walked none.

Hudson Valley scored its only run in the first inning on an RBI single by Price. Nelson was two-for-three with a double.

The Lady Vikings picked up both wins off of sophomore pitcher Heidi Brooks (Wayland/Wayland-Cohocton High School). Brooks, a First Team All-American last year, shutout Hudson Valley three times a year ago, including twice in the Region III tournament.
