Hudson Valley Softball Sweeps Columbia-Greene

Freshman Annemarie Nelson (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) hit a walk-off inside the park home run to propel the Hudson Valley Community College (7-5-1) softball team to a 3-2 win over Columbia-Greene Community College (3-2) in the opening game of a doubleheader played earlier today in Troy. The Lady Vikings completed the sweep with a 5-2 win in the nightcap.

Sophomore pitcher Stephanie Goodspeed (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh High School) picked up the win for the Lady Vikings in the opener. She scattered five hits over seven innings of work, allowing only two unearned runs, and striking out nine. Freshman Mindy McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh High School) added two hits.

Sophomore Samantha Zotto (Troy/Troy High School) got the win on the mound in the second game. She allowed only two runs on three hits. Zotto also hit a solo home run in the second inning.
