Hudson Valley's Jeff Beyer Named Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year
Three Lady Vikings Earn All-Star Status

Hudson Valley Community College softball coach Jeff Beyer has been named the Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year as voted on by the league's coaches. In addition, sophomores Jill Fox (Loudonville/Bishop Maginn High School) and Casey Brinkman (Troy/Troy High School) and freshman Danielle Duggan (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) were named to the All-Conference Team.
In only his first year at the helm of the Lady Vikings, Beyer guided them to a 29-8 record, including a 15-1 mark in the conference. Hudson Valley completed its season with a third-place finish at the NJCAA Region III tournament.
Brinkman, who was named Second Team All-Region in 2003 a week agol, batted .271 with two doubles, two triples and nine stolen bases this year. One of the top outfielders in the conference, Brinkman committed only one error in 32 games.
Duggan led the team in hitting for most of the year. She batted .438 with nine doubles and a team-high 29 runs batted in.
Fox batted .301 with three doubles, three triples and 21 runs batted in.
In the 2002-03 academic year, Hudson Valley's athletic teams combined to win 59 percent of their contests. The college's softball team won the Mountain Valley Conference and finished the season ranked 10th in the country. The men's soccer team completed its season ranked 14th in the nation, while the men's and women's bowling squads finished sixth and fourth, respectively, at the NJCAA championship tournament. Additionally, 31 Vikings earned All-Conference honors and three were given All-American status.
