Three Hudson Valley Softball Players Honored by Region III

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III coaches recognized three Hudson Valley Community College softball players for their play this season.

Sophomores Casey Brinkman (Troy/Troy High School) and Kim Welcome (Cohoes/Cohoes High School), and freshman Danielle Duggan (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) were all garnered Second Team All-Region honors.

Brinkman, who was named Second Team All-Region in 2002 as well, batted .271 with two doubles, two triples and nine stolen bases this year. One of the top outfielders in Region III, Brinkman committed only one error in 32 games.

Welcome hit .314 with 11 doubles and 19 RBI on the season. She also finished with eight stolen bases.

Duggan led the team in hitting for most of the year. She batted .438 with nine doubles and a team-high 29 RBI.

Hudson Valley finished the year ranked 10th in the NJCAA Division III softball poll with a 29-8 record. The Lady Vikings have now posted 16 consecutive winning seasons.
