Hudson Valley Softball Meets Corning In the Region III Semifinals

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team will meet Corning Community College on Friday, May 9 at noon in the semifinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III tournament. The four-team double-elimination tournament is hosted by Corning and will be played at Holding Point in Horseheads.

Hudson Valley, the tournament's third seed, is 28-6 on the season. Second seed Corning enters the contest with a 26-4 mark. The two teams split a doubleheader on April 13. Corning won the opener, 8-0, but fell to the Lady Vikings, 7-6, in the nightcap.

The other semifinal game matches top seed Monroe Community College (23-5) with No. 5 Broome Community College (23-4).

The winner of the tournament will advance to the NJCAA national championship tournament in Joliet, Illinois on May 15-17.

Hudson Valley is the defending Region III champion and finished second in the national tournament a year ago.

Game 1 – Corning vs. Hudson Valley, noon
Game 2 – Monroe vs. Broome, noon
Game 3 – Loser game 1 vs. Loser game 2, 3 p.m.
Game 4 – Winner game 1 vs. Winner game 2, 3 p.m.

Saturday, May 10
Game 5 – Winner game 3 vs. Loser game 4, 11 a.m.
Game 6 – Winner game 4 vs. Winner game 5, 1:30 p.m.
Game 7 – If necessary, 3:30 p.m.
