Hudson Valley Softball Sweeps Fulton-Montgomery

The Hudson Valley Community College (20-5) softball team, ranked eighth in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, swept a doubleheader from Fulton-Montgomery Community College (10-11) earlier today in Troy. Hudson Valley rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the opener, 11-10, and then used its momentum to win the nightcap 8-0.

Sophomore third baseman Jill Fox (Loudonville/Bishop Maginn High School) was three-for-five, with two doubles and three RBI to lead the Lady Vikings in the opener. Freshman Jennifer Keigley (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) and Danielle Duggan (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) added two hits apiece.

Freshman hurler Samantha Zotto (Troy/Troy High School) scattered four hits over five innings to pick up the win in the second game for Hudson Valley. Sophomore Sonia Altamura (Mechanicville/Mechanicville High School) led the Lady Vikings offensive attack with three hits and an RBI.
