The Hudson Valley Community College softball team opened the 2003 campaign with a rare tripleheader on Tuesday. Hudson Valley was swept by the College of DuPage (IL), 9-1 and 7-3, and fell to Shoreline College (WA), 5-0, in the final game of the day.

Hudson Valley took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the opener when sophomore Lee Geddes (Loudonville/Colonie High School) drove home freshman Lauren Krogh (Troy/Troy High School), who had singled and stole second base.

DuPage responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead for good. Krogh and Geddes each finished one-for-two at the plate while freshman Danielle Duggan (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) was one-for-three with a double.

Hudson Valley was limited to only three hits in the second game against DuPage. Geddes finished the game one-for-two with two RBI to lead the Lady Vikings.

Sophomore Casey Brinkman (Troy/Troy High School) and freshman Samantha Zotto (Troy/Troy High School) finished with two hits apiece for Hudson Valley against Shoreline.
