President's Award For Hustle Winner Headed To Le Moyne College

On the strength of a stellar 2000 campaign during which he earned First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference and Second Team All-Region III honors, Evan Gilligan of North Greenbush was recently named Most Valuable Player of Hudson Valley Community College's men's soccer team.

Gilligan, a sophomore defender who contributed four assists in 2000, led Hudson Valley to a 10-4 record, a national ranking and a playoff game.

Gilligan also was recently presented with Hudson Valley's President's Award for Hustle. The award is presented each year to the student-athlete whose hard work, determination, hustle and attitude have enabled them to make valuable contributions to their team.

Gilligan, who came to Hudson Valley from Columbia High School, will continue his athletic and academic careers at Le Moyne College.

Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions; Business, Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, Hudson Valley Community College has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining.
