Hudson Valley Men’s Soccer Captures Panther Invitational

The Hudson Valley Community College (3-2) men’s soccer team won the Panther Invitational hosted by Albany College of Pharmacy over the weekend. The Vikings defeated Springfield Tech, 5-4, on Saturday and won a thrilling championship game, 3-2, over New Hampshire Tech on Sunday.

Freshman Mike Ackerman (Castleton/Maple Hill High School) scored four goals to lead Hudson Valley past Springfield Tech. Freshman Kevin Long (Warwick/Warwick Valley High School) added a goal and an assist.

Sophomore Sean Fitzgerald (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) scored the game-winner in the 90th minute to lead Hudson Valley past New Hampshire Tech. freshman Anthony Greene (Schenectady/Colonie High School) scored the first two goals for the Vikings.

Hudson Valley returns home to host SUNY Cobleskill at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12.
