Hudson Valley Men’s Soccer Falls to Nationally-Ranked TC3 in Overtime

The Hudson Valley Community College (0-1) men’s soccer suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Tompkins Cortland Community College (3-0) earlier today in Troy. Tompkins Cortland entered the game ranked No. 14 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.
Kyle Stone got behind the Hudson Valley defense and scored on a breakaway to give the Panthers the win with 24 seconds remaining in the first sudden death overtime.
After a scoreless first half, Hudson Valley scored first with 30:08 remaining in regulation when sophomore Corey Terpening (Waterford/Waterford-Halfmoon High School) directed a James Frederick (Hillsdale/Taconic Hills High School) cross into the back of the net.
Tompkins Cortland tied the game with a tally by Jesse Clawson with 10:38 remaining in regulation.
Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Marciano (Colonie/Colonie High School) stopped
12 shots in net for the Vikings. Joe Mitchell made 12 saves for Tompkins Cortland.
Hudson Valley will host Corning Community College at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 3.
