Nothing has been easy for the Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team this year, but the Vikings managed to pull out their third consecutive one-goal victory with a 1-0 win at Cayuga Community College on Saturday.

Hudson Valley, which has had seven of its eight games decided by one goal, improved its record to 5-3 on the year with the win. Cayuga, which is ranked No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, dropped to 11-1 on the year.

Freshman Sam Mallabar (Guilderland/Guilderland High School)/ scored the Vikings lone goal on a penalty kick with 35 minutes remaining in the game and freshman goalie Nick Marciano (Colonie/Colonie High School) made seven stops in net to keep Cayuga scoreless.

Hudson Valley will return to action on Wednesday, September 28 when it travels to Adirondack Community College.
