Men's Soccer Upsets Morrisville

For the second consecutive game, the Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team was tied, 1-1, after 90 minutes of regulation play and for the second straight game, Hudson Valley came up with the game winner in a 2-1 win at Morrisville State College on Wednesday night. Morrisville entered the game ranked No. 14 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.
Hudson Valley's Corey Terpening (Waterford Halfmoon HS/Waterford, NY) scored the first goal of the contest minutes into the second half to give the Vikings the lead. Minutes later, Morrisville State midfielder Quinton Rogers (Brockport HS/Brockport, NY) tied the contest at one, netting the Mustang goal from a direct kick.
Just over eight minutes into the first overtime period, Terpening struck again, heading the game winning goal into the back of the net off a direct kick from Matt Lathrop (Albany HS/Albany, NY).
Morrisville State goalkeeper, Brian Hope (Rocky Point HS/Rocky Point,
NY) recorded six saves in the loss. Nick Marciano (Colonie HS/Colonie,
NY) saved nine for the Vikings, earning the win in goal.
Hudson Valley will visit the nation's top-ranked team, Herkimer County Community College, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 10.
