Men's Soccer Ties Morrisville

The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team tied Morrisville State College, 1-1, earlier today in Troy.

Morrisville (1-1-1) took the lead 5:46 into the contest when sophomore forward William Boateng (Ghana) took a cross from sophomore forward Tim Dovi (Cortland) and blasted the ball past the Hudson Valley goalkeeper from 10 yards out.

The Vikings tied the game at 18:12 of the opening half when sophomore Ryan Claire (Schenectady/Schenectady High School) tapped in a rebound off the Morrisville keeper. Sophomore Mike Vooris (Castleton/Maple Hill High School) assisted on the goal.

Hudson Valley outshot the Mustangs 21-5 in the game, which was played under a steady rain. Sophomore goalie Joe Simon (Pittsfield, MA/Pittsfield High School) entered the game at halftime and made three saves for the Vikings.

Hudson Valley (2-0-1), ranked ninth in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, will host second-ranked Herkimer County Community College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 11.
