Three Vikings Earn All-Region Honors

Three men's soccer players from Hudson Valley Community College were named to the NJCAA Division III All-Region III Team recently. In addition, two other Hudson Valley players were named to the Region III All-Tournament Team.

Faber Kelly (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga High School) and Joe Teator (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill High School) earned First Team All-Region accolades while goalkeeper Pete Testa (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna High School) was named to the region's Second Team.

All three players also were awarded All-Mountain Valley Conference honors last week. Kelly finished the season with seven goals and seven assists while Teator was second on the team with 10 assists to go along with three goals. Testa allowed only 1.4 goals per-game this season.

Earning Region III All-Tournament honors were Joseph Davis (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa High School) and Barrett Heacock (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent High School). Both players were instrumental in leading the Vikings to the semifinal of the Region III tournament before bowing out to eventual regional champion Herkimer Community College last Saturday, October 26.

Hudson Valley finished the 2002 season ranked 14th in the final NJCAA Division III men's soccer poll with an 11-7 record. The Vikings played eight games this season against teams ranked in the final national poll.
