Alexander and Colfer Named Region III Player of the Week

Ramel Alexander (Berkshire, Albany) and Paige Colfer (Watervliet, Menands) were named Region III Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 1. Both the men's (14-7) and women's (12-7) basketball teams had perfect, 3-0 weeks and the women are currently riding a seven-game winning streak that has catapulted them to sixth place in the region. The men are currently in sixth place, as well.

Ramel Alexander (Berkshire, Albany)

Ramel Alexander (Berkshire, Albany) helped to lead the Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team (14-7) to a 3-0 week. Alexander averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds and 3.7 assists during the three-game streak. In his best effort of the week, Alexander exploded for 38 points in a win against Ulster County Community College. He also added seven steals in the game.

Paige Colfer (Watervliet, Menands)

Paige Colfer (Watervliet, Menands) averaged 24 points and 21.5 rebounds this week as the Hudson Valley Community College Lady Vikings (12-7) put together a 3-0 week.

Colfer began the week with 24 points and 20 rebounds in a 73-49 road win at Adirondack Community College. She followed that with another 20 & 20 night against North Country Community College. The Lady Vikings needed every one of her 24 points and 23 rebounds to secure the 60-56 win. Hudson Valley received a forfeit win against Schenectady County Community College to finish the week.

The Lady Vikings are currently on a seven-game winning streak.
