Vikings Set School Record in 98-48 Win

The Hudson Valley men’s basketball team improved to 27-0 with a 98-48 victory over SUNY Delhi at the McDonough Sports Complex on Saturday. With the win the Vikings clinched at least a share of the Mountain Valley Conference title. It is the first conference title in men’s basketball since the 1999-2000 season. Also, with the 27 wins, the Vikings broke a school record for victories. The 1992-93 squad finished with 26 victories.
Hudson Valley jumped on SUNY Delhi right from the tip-off, racing out to a quick 16-6 lead. The halftime lead ballooned to 25 and the Broncos never threatened in the second half. Datwan Hemingway (Albany/CBA) recorded his 25th double-double of the season. Hemingway finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Emanuel Mayben (Troy/Troy High School) played another strong floor game with 22 points and 13 assists. Bobby Barry (Duanesburg/ Duanesburgh High School) came off the bench to score a career high 11 points and Ryne Luce (Cohoes/Cohoes High School) chipped in with 10 points.
SUNY Delhi (5-19) was led by Dressel Cumberbatch (Staten Island/Port Richmond) with 16 points.
The Vikings can clinch the Mountain Valley Conference title outright in their final home game of the season on Wednesday against Schenectady County Community College. The game time has been moved to 5 p.m. from the originally scheduled 7 p.m. tip.
